What We Believe
As Shiloh Christian Church
In God.
We believe that there is one God, creator, and sustainer of all life. He exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Gen 1:1, 1 Cor 8:6, 2 Cor 13:14, 1 John 5:7-8)
In Jesus Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son. We believe that Christ died for the sins of all people and is the only ransom through which forgiveness is obtained. God raised Him from the dead, and He now intercedes for us. There is only one Gospel and only one Savior, Jesus Christ. (John 3:16-17, 14:6, Luke 4:16-19, Dan 9:24-27, Isa 53)
In the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, God is alive and active in the world. Through Him, Christ lives in all believers. Conviction of sin, faith in Christ, new birth, and discipleship are all His work. Only by His power is the Gospel proclaimed and our witness validated. (Acts 2:38, Eph.4:30, John 14:15-18, 2 Sam. 23:1-2)
In the Bible.
We believe that the Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments, is the only written Word of God, divinely inspired, truthful, and authoritative in its entirety, without error in all that it affirms. It is the only rule and standard for godly living. (John 1:1-2, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Rom. 10:17, Isa. 55:10-11)
In God’s Design for Marriage and Sexual Activity
We believe that the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one man and one woman. In addition, we believe that all sexual activity is to be confined to marriage and is a sin outside the boundaries of marriage. (Gen.2:21-24; Mark 10:5-9, Rom.7:2; Col.3:18-19, Eph. 5:25-28, 1 Cor. 6:9-10,17)
In Humankind.
We believe in “the sanctity of life,” that all human life is sacred from conception to natural death, and that all humans were created in the image of God and in perfect relationship with Him. That relationship was severed through sin. Reconciliation of humankind to God is only accomplished by accepting the saving grace offered on the cross of Jesus Christ. (Psalm 139, Gen 1:27, Rom 3:23, 6:23, Isa 44:6, John 1:14)
In Christ’s Return and Victory.
We believe that Jesus Christ will physically return to earth in power and glory to judge all people, giving eternal reward and punishment. He will establish His kingdom, and Satan will be forever defeated. (Matt. 24:36, Rev.1:7, 1 Thes. 5:2, James 5:7-9
